André Smith

André Smith is a senior at Butler University majoring in Political Science and Spanish with a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies and is focusing on community development while at the Sagamore Institute. He is involved at Butler through working on various service projects, including working at an afterschool program for kids, teaching for an English as a Second Language program, and working as a resident assistant. His hobbies include writing, reading, and watching television. André plans to attend law school and hopes to live in Chicago or New York City some day.

Chandler Swan

Chandler Swan is an intern at Sagamore Institute and the Indiana China Council.  During his term, he is working on Indiana-China business research. Moreover, he is using his talents in film to create a video for Sagamore’s A State of Defense project. 

Chandler is a sophomore at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University-Bloomington majoring in International Business and Finance.  He is a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

In his free time, Chandler writes and directs movies as a partner of Red Tape Films, leisurely golfs with friends, and enjoys traveling around the globe.

Mackenzie Scholte

Mackenzie Scholte is a senior at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. She is studying political science and economics with a minor in nonprofit leadership. While interning at the Sagamore Institute Mackenzie will be doing research regarding national security and Indiana's defense industry. 
 
While at school Mackenzie works hard to remain an active part of her campus community. She is a member of Model UN, Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, and previously served as the president of L'Amifidel service and social club. Mackenzie also works in the university's admissions office during the school year. When she is not busy with these things Mackenzie enjoys biking, writing, reading, and laughing at her own jokes.

Andrew May

Andrew May is an intern at Sagamore Institute for the summer 2013 session. He is working on topics related to government reform by state and city leaders across the country.  

Andrew is a sophomore at Indiana University where he is exploring the range of business degrees offered by The Kelley School of Business.  In addition to his Kelley degrees, Andrew is pursing a minor in philosophy.  He a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys disc golf, listening to music, and watching movies on Netflix.  He also likes snowboarding, boating, and riding his bike.

Meredith Dyer

Meredith is a University of Virginia graduate (2010), B.A. in Biology-Premedical study, Bioethics minor. She is interested in Human Rights, International and Social Justice. Meredith brings strong communications and writing skills to the Charlottesville office and enjoys internet research. In “Cville,” she is active at Trinity Presbyterian Church, involved with the Half the Sky Movement: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, and volunteers with the International Rescue Committee in the resettlement of refugees locally. Meredith enjoys traveling and learning from different cultures, has a particular passion for aiding the marginalized, poor, and oppressed globally – especially with women’s empowerment initiatives; she is motivated by a vision of active faith through engagement in and service to community.
